I have a dream-a perfect racing game. One that has many high resolution cars, a perfect physics engine, and the most important part-you can play it anywhere and create your own game.
The game would probably be cross platform. Windows. iOS. In browser play. Mac. Ubuntu. PS3. PS4. Xbox (both of the newest..). Android. Wii. And the magic is, xbox players can't just play with xbox players. It won't be like the games we have stuck with their own proprietary consoles. You can't play forza on a PS3. You can't play Gran turismo on a Xbox. I can't play Burnout paradise on my iPhone or Moto X. But it's different. They can play with the guy with the iPhone. With the ps4 at home. It will have a complete cross platform multiplayer and all versions will have the same game (maybe different engine and internals)
You can't just port a ps3 game to a iPhone. It doesn't work and it'll take up massive amount of memory. So I'm proposing a completely rebuilt up game, that will be coded specifically for that platform, and coded to be able to handle cross platform multiplayer.
Another great thing about this is the creation of events. There will be a open source event system. If you can code, you can make a gymkhana course and code the scoring system and everything. If you don't, there will be a interface you can use to create your own tracks and event type. You can make a crazy gymkhana event with a ford f150 raptor in a car show if you can put all the objects in that event. Once you add the event, people can modify it to their own doing. Everything will be stored on the cloud, and users have a choice if they want to download the track for offline use(there will be several Versions of
One track, each automatically compressed for each specific platform)
Oh yes there will be a badass physics engine. Crashes will be actually be real, no FUCKING FREMIUM FIXES BUT JUST FIXING WITH A BUTTON.
You can also design mods for a particular car and and a object resembling the mod (ex a cold air intake) your car will reflect upon it. It'll be complicated.
Oh yes one of the things will be a special event is gun battle endurance mode. Everyone has a turret mounted on their car (you can mount it anywhere, and your performance and driving will reflect on the weight differences) and it'll be a endurance death race. Everyone will have a run flat tires with the weird honeycomb inserts. Bulletproof liners in the cabin just to protect you. Nothing else for your car and engine. You get shot, you might get lighter by your entire roof getting shot off (think Hancock) or heavier because everyone shoots in your trunk and theirs a bunch of bullets weighing you down. Or a bullet happens to ricochet and hit someone else. The thing is, you can have pit stops, Which you can get new body panels or engine swapped or stuff fixed. And it'll really have animated guys doing the stuff and a reality reflecting time. You can drive drive with all your body panels shot off, but you are very unprotected. If you're driving a suburu impreza, and someone shoots your rear diff, you're fucked and depending on the damage, your the transaxle might fall out one end (I'm specifying the shaft that connects tranny to axle) and suddenly your Subaru is FWD and diff parts dropping out And a transaxle tearing up the track. And rule would be that you can't stop the vehicle to a complete stop and just shoot people. You must be in motion. It will be awesome.
In this game, you will be able to put your own cars in it. If you want to put a cut in half fiat panda, you can put it in there. There will be a program that will require you to put where the engine components are and specify them by wire frame stuff. Therefore, you can have insane combos.
This game allows reality to cross into a game world. It allows everyone to play, no matter what platform. The complication will differate on every system, but the heart is same. It will combine the level of perfection and complication of Forza and Gran Turismo, the insanity of GTA V, the physics of Larry's mod, the variety of events like in 2K Drive, the pure racing events in Real Racing 3, and a truly unique experience. I hope a game developer will read this and take this to reality.

This would take an ungodly large amout of money to make but I'd fucking buy it!

if they'd just have a decent racing game that you could build your own tracks on...

Yes.....but it would be the worlds most awesome video game. And I forgot to add, you can manipulate the events to somewhat to become missions.

One issue I see with developing separate engines for separate systems is that your physics engine would have to be identical, and frankly that means playing a pc/console game with a physics engine developed to be run on a mobile phone. Great concept though. A modern day interstate 76 revamp would be fun.

Yeah..how about a graphics engine that has a basic backbone, but also can have varying levels of complication?
What was interstate 76

Graphics engine is easy to implement, look at any pc game since ever and they all have variable graphics detail.

The issue however isn't how it looks, but how well a phone can handle the physics simulations behind a dozen or more player and computer controlled opponents. Why? Because if you are going to have the phone player racing against pc sim rigs, the cars better behave identical.

Interstate 76 is an autocombat racing title that debuted in 1997. Since then there have also been battlefield modifications by other authors in the same spirit as the original, the most famous of which is interstate 82.

Yeah..I was thinking the movement data will go through a cloud, and it'll automatically remove certain animations to handle smaller platforms or it'll stay the same. Think iOS 7 and the toned down iOS 7 in iPhone 4.
The cars will be identical, but less complication.

Thats possible, the data transferred would be minimal, but you would need to find a way to counteract the lag from streaming you input commands to a server potentially thousands of miles away.

Yeah...someone will need to be hired from Rockstar to alleviate that

Hmmm... With a 1000mile cap you can reliably get a lag time around 0.15 to 0.2 seconds for cloud gaming. For a cell game this is minimal, heck for racing games in general it should be decent for all but the most elite.
